accessing zbp with sip device

Hi, I don't know much about this stuff so bare with me. I tried to access zone by phone with sjphone and had no luck. What are the system requirements for such a task? I put in 111@zonebbs.com as the sip address like it says for you to do and I hear tones like it's dialing but nothing happens after that. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

did you put sip:111@zonebbs.com?. it won't work if you don't write the word sip. apart from that, i don't know. it shouldn't really be a problem

i was about to create a topic to ask something about this but i saw this one, anyway, sjphone didn't work for me either and i don't know why, i used linphone and it worked good with my old pc but now with this new one i can't be heard for some reason, i wanted to know if i can use skype and what i need to do to use it, and if it would cost me like a normal international call. i would prefer my free good linphone, but if skype doesn't cost too much it could be done

I put sip111@zonebbs.com there I was just wondering if I had to do something additional like use another program like messenger or skype to call out.

looks like many people have problems with sjphone. try linphone. it's not as good, but considering that at least this one works... lol. but i have problems with that too with this new pc. i can't be heard for some reason. it kind of works on conferences, but not in voicemail. that's why i want to try to use skype but i don't know what i have to do to use it

Since skype is not an open access network, you will have to use skype out minutes in order to call ZPP.

I had the same problem with sjphone and linphone, but I thought it was because the college had blocked skype and some other thing from their computer network.

I used x-lite.
It works, when we was talking to gether with specific number, but when I tried to connect to SIP:111@zonebbs.com, it connected (maybe?), but I didn'¨t heard any sound.

who knows. i'll probably try that too. but with all the luck i have with this thing that won't work either lol
i liked gizmo though, it has a good quality but only works once out of 50 and it gets on my nerves
anyone know of other sip softwares?

I tried SJ Phone and Gizmo. The first was horrible. The second called but then I couldn't hit any numbers. I have a laptop, so would need to figure out how anyway, but I couldn't even find the box where I'd need to type the numbers in. I'm referring to the ones on the main menu etc. Also, it kept saying button button when I'd hit tab and it took me forever to find the call button and then to figure out how to get it to call the number cause again, I didn't know where to find the edit box. So I used a conventional telephone. But still, isn't there at least one piece of software that'll work correctly and not give me a throbbing headache?

Post 17 by midnight sun (you can't catch me, i'm the palobread man) on Wednesday, 05-Dec-2007 3:38:41

yeah it keeps saying button and when i click all those buttons i get web pages. and some of them don't do a thing. but maybe i did something wrong? maybe i added the contact the wrong way? i don't know i tried everything i could think of, and that thing still only works once out of 100.
for the keys to press you have to use the jaws cursor, you can use the num pad if you're using a desktpo keyboard, but you wont have the #, so you have to go to the last page that i don't know in english lol and use the jaws cursor, which sucks because there are not only the numbers but the letters too and the buttons for the emoticon sounds.
gizmo's nothing special as for accessibility in my opinion, but the quality's good, even better than my phone, so i would like it to work. help, please?

ok, can it be that it doesn't work because i use a router? i noticed that it always works when i use my cell phone's connection. but i can't use it with that connection since it's slow and the audio is very delayed

Post 19 by Eleni21 (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Thursday, 06-Dec-2007 10:47:31

My tech guru told me I should plug my wireless laptop into a router via a chord and Gizmo would work better. He said that Gizmo isn't designed to handle the kind of delays in signal that wireless machines experience. But that still won't help me with the button issue.

I tried sip, entered in the address and got the tone plus silence.
Where's a zone techy when you need one?

Post 22 by rat (star trek rules!) on Wednesday, 09-Jan-2008 19:18:53

just do the 111@zonebbs.com you don't need the sip part

Post 23 by midnight sun (you can't catch me, i'm the palobread man) on Thursday, 10-Jan-2008 8:55:07

gizmo works great with wireless i just had to disable the router's firewall

Post 24 by frequency (the music man) on Tuesday, 05-Feb-2008 14:41:52

ok all. I resurrected this topic because I've found out a bit of info.

I got SJPhone to work by plugging my computer directly up to the modem. Furthermore, all DHCP and NAT functions that i can turn off have been turned off. The reason it didn't work before is because I had to use ICS (internet connection sharing) on xp. Now the other computer is using ICS, since I don't use it for voip.

Hello,
tried gizmo, installation OK, but when I try to call any number including echo, it'll ring several times, then make call sound (se interface sounds/call.wav), and then silent.
I tried sip:111@zonebbs.com and 111@zonebbs.com.
I don't know where's the problem.
I'm on the vireless network, so I'll try to unblock all connections.
